VIN

Location of the platform under drawing number VIN on a longitudinal beam of a frame

1 — the Regular platform under VIN

Identification number of the car can be found in a special observation port under a windshield at the left, besides, number is beaten out on the right longitudinal beam of a frame of the car, and also mentioned on the name plate (see below).

In identification number of the car the following information is ciphered:

1 and 19 — Badges with the image of the Mersedes-Benz trademark (star), - designate the beginning and the end of VIN (presence is optional)

2-4 — the International code of the company manufacturer

5-10 — Serial number of model (163.113: ML 270 CDI, 163.128: ML 400 CDI, 163.136: ML 230, 163.154: ML 320, 163.157: ML 350, 163.172: ML 430, 163.174: ML 55 AMG, 163.175: ML 500)

11 — Steering

12 — the Code of manufacturer (A-E: Sindelfingen, F-H: Bremen, J: Rastatt, T: Karmann (Osnabrueck), X: Graz)

13-18 — Factory number

Name plate

Location of the name plate is shown on an illustration. Permissible weight load is specified in the plate the VIN car, and also, - more detailed information can be obtained in representative offices of the Mercedes-Benz company.

On models ML 320, 400 CDI, 500 and 55 AMG number of the engine is in right back (in the direction of the movement) parts of the power unit, on models 270 CDI, - in left back.
